Raunaq is a contemporary Punjabi restaurant brand identity inspired by the cultural richness of Punjab, the grandeur of Mughal architecture, the geometry of traditional jaali patterns, and the colours of Punjab’s agricultural landscape.

The name Raunaq represents liveliness, splendour, celebration and warmth – the feeling created when people come together around food.

The visual identity translates this idea into a complete Punjabi restaurant branding system, combining heritage with a modern hospitality experience

The & Concept

The identity brings together three key influences:

Punjab – its food, colours, culture, typography and spirit.
Mughal architecture – arches, symmetry, ornamentation and intricate geometry.
Punjab’s fields – harvest, greenery, sunlight and the connection between land and food.

These references were simplified and reinterpreted to create a contemporary visual language rather than directly reproducing traditional artwork.

Typography

The Raunaq logo combines expressive typography with decorative Punjabi-inspired forms. Gurmukhi influences were explored as part of the identity, allowing Punjabi script to become a visual element rather than simply supporting text.

The typography system balances decorative display type with clean supporting typography to create a premium yet approachable restaurant identity.

Colour Palette

The Raunaq colour palette draws inspiration from the vibrant spirit of Punjab and the warmth of Indian hospitality. Rich shades such as Persian Red, Olive Green, Spicy Orange, Royal Orchid, and Heritage Gold create a bold and memorable visual identity. Each colour reflects the energy, tradition, celebration, and warmth associated with the Raunaq dining experience. Patterns & Graphic Language

Traditional jaali patterns, architectural arches and geometric forms became the foundation of Raunaq’s graphic system.

The patterns were developed into modular shapes that can be repeated, layered and adapted across menus, packaging, interiors and promotional graphics.

Punjabi-inspired geometric forms bring cultural recognition while keeping the overall identity contemporary.
